Several pro-cyclists have turned to hybrid ceramic bearings in bicycles to give them a race day advantage over those who opt for all-steel bearings. But, do you need ceramic bearings in your wheels?

There is plenty of research that suggests high quality ceramic bicycle bearings will enable you to roll faster, saving valuable energy and allowing for faster bicycle speeds. They are lighter than steel bearings, so can provide a small reduction in the weight of your bike. That said, good quality precision hybrids are often much more expensive than steel alternatives and the benefits are generally only worth the extra cost for very serious racers. Hybrid bearings do not perform well under repeated impact loads so care should be taken when using them for mountain biking.

We stock bike bearings for road bikes or mountain bikes to cover different applications. For more information on the bearings we can supply, ask a member of the team for assistance.
